Fifty-one Covid-19 deaths and 4,161 cases were reported on Saturday, bringing the toll to 1,870 fatalities and 240,452 cases. Of the new cases, 4,089 were in the general population and 72 among prison inmates.
The 51 people who died in the past 24 hours were aged from 15 to 92 years old, with an average age of 67. Thirty-one of them were men and one was a Chinese national, The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said in its briefing on Saturday afternoon.
Twenty-eight of those who died had hypertension and 21 had diabetes, while six had no chronic illnesses. Eighteen had caught the disease from relatives.
Twenty-three of the latest fatalities were in Bangkok, seven in Nonthaburi, four in Samut Prakan, three each in Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, and Pattani and one each in Phuket, Chon Buri, Chaiyaphum, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chiang Rai, Narathiwat, Yala and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Bangkok had the newest cases (1,276), followed by Samut Prakan (322), Chon Buri 320, Samut Sakhon (291), Pathum Thani (228), Songkhla (215), Nonthaburi (196), Pattani (150), Nakhon Pathom (135) and Yala (135).
