The Thailand Special Tourist Visa (STV) is a unique visa introduced by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for long-stay tourists who would like to travel to Thailand.
It was originally issued during the COVID pandemic in the hopes to spur tourism. It failed in that respect.
The applicant will get a 90-day visa and can renew this visa twice for a total maximum stay of 270 days. Foreigners will be able to apply for this visa until 30 September 2022.
Application Procedure for Special Tourist Visa (STV)
A foreign applicant must e-mail Thailand Longstay Company (stvvisa@thailongstay.co.th) to submit his/her intention to apply for the Special Tourist Visa (STV). In the e-mail, please provide the following information about all the applicants:
Photo of the passport that the applicant will use for entry into Thailand
Current Location/Residence (City & Country)
Nearest Thai Embassy/Consulate to the Applicant
The company will send the photo of the passport to the Thai Immigration Bureau to check the applicant’s criminal record. After receiving approval from the Thai Immigration Bureau, the applicant will have to pay the application fee and the company will send the applicant the STV Visa application form and the applicant will need to provide the following documents to the company for inspection:
Round Trip Tickets
ASQ Quarantine Confirmation and Receipt in accordance with the policy of the Thai Ministry of Public Health at the time.
After Quarantine Accommodation Confirmation and Receipt
Medical and Travel Insurance with a minimum 100,000 USD coverage for Covid-19 medical treatment and minimum coverage of 400,000 THB for IPD and 40,000 THB for OPD medical and accident expenses. The insurance must cover for at least 90 days.
Please note the following:
You must not book your accommodation via a travel agent or online booking website. You should book directly with the hotel to get the official receipt, if you would like us to help, please let us know your desired ASQ hotel and after quarantine hotel.
For the ASQ quarantine accommodation, the current policy of the Thai Ministry of Public Health states that you must quarantine for 7 days if you can provide a certificate of vaccination stating that you have had at least 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization. If you have had less than 1 dose of the Covid-19 vaccine approved by the World Health Organization or do not have a certificate of vaccination, you must quarantine for 10 days. This policy is subject to change in the future.
If you would like to stay more than 90 days, you must book your accommodation (including quarantine) only on the 90th day. The 90th day is counted from the day you enter the Kingdom of Thailand. Your return ticket must also be on the 90th day. Your return ticket and your accommodation and not exceed more than 90 days. The extension will be done in Thailand and you will need to change your return ticket and provide proof of further accommodation to the immigration for the extension. If your intended stay is between 30 – 89 days the duration of your accommodation should match with the date of your return ticket.
After inspection, the company will submit on behalf of the applicant, the STV visa application form and all required documents to the Department of Consular Affairs, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs to apply for the STV Visa.
Once the Department of Consular Affairs, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made the approval, the company will inform the applicant to pick up his/her STV Visa at the designated Thai embassy/consulate. After picking up the STV Visa, the applicant must send a copy photo of the visa to the company and the company will proceed with the CoE application on your behalf. Once the CoE has been approving the company will send the CoE to the applicant.
Not more than 72 hours before the departure of the applicant’s flight, the applicant must obtain 2 Medical Certificates:
Medical certificate proving that you do not have Covid19 and the method of Covid-19 test must only be RT-PCR only https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/file/g_form/general02.pdf
Fit to Fly Medical Certificate stating that you are fit and healthy enough to fly https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/file/guidelines/G23.pdf
You must make sure to print out all the documents used above and bring all documents with you to the airport. Once arrived in Thailand, every STV visa holder must follow the public health and safety measures set by the Thai Ministry of Public Health at the time. The STV visa holder will then pass through immigration and go under quarantine at his/her paid ASQ/ALSQ accommodation.
STV visa holder will then go under the 15-day quarantine at his/her paid ASQ/ALSQ accommodation. If the STV visa holder is tested negative for covid-19 after the 15-day quarantine, the STV visa holder will be allowed to leave and go stay at his or her chosen accommodation.
Application Service Fee and Payment Terms & Conditions:
10,000 THB excluding 7% VAT per applicant
This includes the service fee and the applicant and does not include the airplane ticket, ASQ/ALSQ quarantine accommodation nor accommodation after the quarantine, medical and travel Insurance.
The applicant will also have to pay the visa fee at the Thai Embassy/Consulate
